Founded in 2015 by White Rocks Holding, Samkna is Qatar’s first open-water offshore aquaculture initiative. The project plays a pivotal role in advancing the goals of Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which aims to establish the nation as a progressive society focused on sustainable development and ensuring a high quality of life for its citizens.
Driven by a mission to produce healthy, premium-quality fish and adopt cutting-edge aquaculture technologies, Samkna strives to meet the growing global demand for sustainable food production while adhering to environmental and economic priorities.
Offshore Infrastructure
Strategically located 50 kilometers off the northeast coast of Al Ruwais, Samkna’s offshore fish farm spans an impressive 900,000 square meters. The facility features:
- 16 Floating Cages: Strategically positioned to cultivate fish with high economic value.
- Fully Automated Feed Barge: Engineered for efficient storage and feeding processes.
- Exceptional Marine Resources: Utilizing pristine water quality and natural conditions to optimize fish growth.
Onshore Infrastructure
Samkna’s onshore facility in Al Ruwais covers 10,000 square meters and serves as a hub for post-harvest processing. This state-of-the-art factory includes:
- Two refrigerated rooms (-18°C and +4°C) to receive and store harvests at 0–4°C, ensuring the highest biosecurity standards to preserve product quality.

ITQAN is a premier aquaculture enterprise based in Qatar, headquartered in Al Areesh specializing in the production of high-quality shrimp to cater the growing demand across the GCC region.
Our state-of-the-art shrimp farm facilities include the following:

Investment Scope
United Aquaculture aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of seabream within five years, scaling from an initial output of 1,000 tons per year to full capacity by 2030. The investment focuses on:
- Juvenile Production: Generating 20 million seabream juveniles (2 g).
- Broodstock Management: Harvesting eggs from locally housed broodstock.
- Self-Sufficiency: Transitioning to independent production, eliminating reliance on external fry and fingerling suppliers.
